Meet your calligrapher

Aloha and welcome to Paradise Ink Calligraphy! I'm Briana Horn, coming to you from the stunning island of Kaua’i, Hawai’i. By profession, I’m a scientist and bioethicist, but my heart has always been drawn to history and timeless beauty of traditional art forms, such as calligraphy.

I fell in love with calligraphy at the age of 12, starting with a chiseled pen and doing Chancery Italic style. Over the years, my journey expanded to brush and oblique pens, allowing me to blend both traditional and modern calligraphy into unique styles. I often pair these styles with watercolor creations, bringing a personal touch to each piece. For me, calligraphy is more than a hobby; it's a peaceful passion that brings a sense of calm and balance to my busy life.

Beyond my love for art, I’m also a wife to a wonderful physician and a proud mom of identical twin boys. When I’m not immersed in calligraphy or my professional work, you’ll find me reading, dancing, refurbishing antique furniture, exploring history, traveling, capturing moments through photography, and, of course, enjoying breathtaking sunsets.
